6 Habits That Will Change Your Life
It's not what you do in life, but rather what you do consistently that will to a large extent determine where you end up. Habit is the ultimate driving force of the universe, and if you can harness that power for good then you'll be able to completely transform your life.
I want to offer six habits that will completely change your life if you'll do them every day. Build these habits and you'll immediately start to see great results.
1 - Reading
Reading is one of the most positive habits that anyone can develop. Reading good books or blogs is like nourishment to the mind, and everything that you read is added to your world view. Remember that you are what you read, so be careful to choose wisely what you feed your mind. Make sure that every day you read something positive and uplifting, and take the time to learn something new. The mind is never old when it is learning.
2 - Exercise
If you plan on living a life full of vitality and energy, then you'll need to start exercising. Find some time every day to do something physical, like working out, jogging, playing a sport, hiking, or swimming. Daily exercise will keep you happy, healthy, and strong.
3 - Service
One of the best ways to feel happy in life is to stop focusing on yourself and in stead move the attention to other people. Think of ways that you can contribute your time, resources, or energy to the service of your fellow human beings, or a cause that you are involved with. Daily service will be of more good to you than almost any other habit.
4 - Smile
Just the simple habit of smiling has the potential to completely change your world, and the world of those people around you. Amidst all the chaos and rushing about in life, it's always uplifting to see someone sporting an authentic smile. A smile says "I'm great, life's great, and you're great." Wouldn't you like to be a person who conveys that message to people?
5 - Goal Setting
Goal setting is one of the most important skills that you will ever learn. If you don’t have goals then you are basically drifting through life like a boat without a sail. You need to learn how to set specific and actionable goals so that you can set yourself up for success in any area of your life.
6 - Solitude
Make sure that you find time to pause and reflect amidst all the business of your daily life. It's important to know how to recharge yourself through daily solitude. Personally, I find activities like meditation and spending time in nature to be the best ways for me to regroup and reflect on my current mental state. Finding time for yourself will keep you energized and collected.
So there you have it. I hope that I've been able to remind you of a few habits that will lift you up to a better existence. I know that as you develop these habits you'll find greater strength in your relationships, your health, your energy levels, and your self respect, and you'll truly be living life on purpose.
