We Are All Connected
I'd like to briefly speak with those people who believe that what they do makes no difference in the world. I want to share with you something that I've learned recently as I started interviewing people on my podcast, "Searching For Good".
There were many things that I knew I could learn from this podcast. For example, I wanted to prove that every day people could have a massive impact on the people and world around them, and that you don't have to be a multi-millionaire or have thousands of followers to make an impact. I also knew that I would learn that everyone has something special that they can teach the world. One thing that I only recently learned is this: we are all connected. What you do does make a difference, and the good that you do in the world can have far reaching effects, far beyond what you can comprehend.
Let me explain first my giving you the concept behind the podcast. First, I interview someone who has inspired me and helped me to live an incredible life. Then, I ask them to recommend to me a couple of people who have influenced their life. And the cycle continues, as if I am creating a "family tree of influence". After a few episodes I realized something; even though I don't know these people who are recommended to me, I feel completely comfortable meeting them because in a way they are connected to me. For example, my latest guest is an incredible woman called Claire Candy Hough. She has been a positive influence for David Matthew Brown (Episode #8), David was a great influence on the life of Matthew Fallon (Episode #5), and Matthew has played an important role in the life of Isaac Cavallaro (Episode #2). Who is Isaac? He's one of my closest friends and a person who has influenced me positively in many ways. So I hope that you can see from this example that in a way, we are all connected.
The good that you do in this world can have far reaching effects, because all you need to do is help one person to live a better life, and the chain reaction will set in. All you have to do is care for one person, and they will have the power to pay that care forward to other people in their life, and so on. If you are a good person, and you regularly help other people, never fear that what you are doing is not enough, because the chances are that you have spread your positive influence over hundreds, if not thousands of lives, just by helping a few people.
If you do feel like you're not making a difference in the world, I'd like to set you a challenge to help one person today. Be a good influence on one person. Give to one person your gifts, talents, time, energy, or resources, and rest assured that by doing this you have left a beautiful mark on the world. The people who make the biggest difference are those who decide to change the world one step at a time, or in this case, one person at a time.
I hope that you'll pass this message forward as you help other people, and I hope that you can see the beauty that you can create if you will just look for small opportunities to bring love and joy to the world.
